How To Get A Salon Suite At Sola
I recently hit a very special milestone with my business and I’m so excited to share it with you all.
I moved into my very own salon suite with Sola and I’m going to tell you exactly how I did it and explain the process step by step.
Okay so to start, you must contact the Sola Salon in your area. You can find which ones are closest to you on the Sola website. Next, you can contact the area manager for your location via email or by phone and let them know you are interested in leasing a suite with them.
The area manager will set up a tour where you can take a look around to see if the space will be a good fit. During this tour, the area manager will discuss with you the process of applying for the suite and give you a rundown of the all the amenities and benefits of leasing with Sola.
After you’ve made your decision and you have decided to move forward, its time to get all of your paperwork together. Now, I’ll be speaking on behalf of the regulations for my city and state but I’m pretty sure the basic steps will be universal no matter where your specific Sola is located.
First step is to complete your Sola application (given to you by the manager). Once you are approved, the information for the deposit will be provided to you. Once you’ve got this info, you can get started on your other important documents.
Let’s start with your LLC. You must establish your business with your state, so to do this you must apply for an LLC. You can do this on your Secretary of State website. After you have your LLC, you can then sign up for an EIN. An EIN is a number that the government uses to separate your business from yourself. It’s important because when it’s time to file taxes things will go a lot more smoothly for you. You will also use your EIN to setup a business bank account. You’ll need a separate account to keep your personal and business expenses separate.
Next, you’ll need to get your salon license from your state board licensing department. This is different from your professional esthetician, cosmetology, or barbering license. Your business will have its own separate license. You can find the form on your state board licensing website. The documents that you will to submit this form are a copy of your driver’s license or state ID, a copy of your lease from Sola, and an a signed affidavit (included in the application) that you must get notarized. There is a fee to be submit with this application, but it will vary from state to state.
Next, is the one that was honestly the most stressful for me. It wasn’t hard. There were just a lot of steps. This was getting your business tax certificate. There were A LOT of other forms that needed to be submitted with this application. But, if you follow my steps, you will already have 5 out of 7 of the forms already in had. To submit this application to your city’s revenue office you will need:
Copy of you Driver’s License or State ID
Copy of your LLC
Your EIN
Your Professional ESTH, COSM or Barbering License
State Tax ID Number
Copy of your Lease
Copy of Zoning Approval (given by your Sola Manager)
I know this may seem like a lot, but if you follow my steps I promise it won’t be as overwhelming as it seems. The only things from the list that you won’t already have is the zoning approval, which you will email your Sola manager and ask for. And, the other one is the state tax ID which is easy to apply for online.
After you’ve gotten all of these forms approved and submitted, YOU”RE DONE! Of course always make sure to check your specific city and state’s regulations for opening your salon suite. I hope this gave you some guidance and was helpful! I couldn’t find anything like this online to help guide me. I had to figure it ALL out on my own. So, I was motivated to put this together for those who need it!
